Inside Sales Specialist Location: Albany, NY (On-site) Engagement Type: 3-month contract-to-hire Company & Role Context This position supports a well-established manufacturing organization that produces specialty industrial materials used across a range of commercial and infrastructure applications. The operation is production-driven, quality-focused, and highly reliant on accurate order fulfillment, on-time delivery, and strong customer communication. The Inside Sales Specialist plays a critical role in bridging customers with internal production, logistics, and finance teams. This role is central to keeping daily operations running smoothly-ensuring orders are processed correctly, shipments are tracked, issues are resolved quickly, and customers receive consistent, reliable updates. The team operates in a hands-on manufacturing environment where attention to detail, follow-through, and collaboration are essential. This is not a call-center or digital sales role. Success in this position comes from operational accuracy, strong written communication, and comfort working in a plant-based setting. Position Overview The Inside Sales Specialist supports daily customer operations and sales execution within a manufacturing environment. This role is heavily focused on customer service, order management, shipment tracking, reporting, and internal coordination with production, logistics, and accounting teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial setting. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Support * Prepare and maintain daily sales, shipment, and backlog reports * Track shipments, deliveries, and order status; proactively communicate updates to customers * Receive, review, and accurately process customer orders * Manage customer RMAs, returns, and issue resolution in coordination with Quality, Production, and Logistics teams * Communicate professionally with customers regarding order status, delivery timelines, documentation, and issues * Coordinate shipping schedules and special customer requirements * Maintain accurate customer and order records in SAP and internal systems * Support the Accounts Receivable team with customer follow-ups and collections * Organize completed materials according to customer-specific requirements Sales & Customer Relationship Support * Support sales managers with customer communication and follow-ups * Proactively reach out to existing customers regarding repeat orders or additional needs * Assist with customer visits as required * Attend industry trade shows, exhibits, and sector events on an as-needed basis * Support preparation of customer-facing materials (non-digital, non-campaign-based) Qualifications * High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred * 1-3 years of experience in inside sales, customer service, sales support, or order management * Manufacturing or industrial environment experience preferred * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple daily priorities * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Comfortable working with reports, spreadsheets, and operational data * Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) * SAP experience is a plus * Ability to work on-site in a plant/office environment and follow safety requirements * Willingness to attend occasional customer visits or industry events Work Environment * On-site role based in an active manufacturing facility * Plant environment may be loud and involve moving mechanical parts * Required adherence to safety protocols and PPE use * Occasional exposure to vibration, noise, and industrial conditions * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albany, NY. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $29.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
