Senior Manager, Technical Solutions

Senior Manager, Technical Solutions, Databricks, Inc, Plano, TX. Lead and manage a team of Technical Solution Engineers, ensuring high performance and effective delivery of customer-facing technical solutions. Plan and direct deep-dive technical solutions for issues reported by Databricks’ customers, resolving challenges through comprehensive technical knowledge and strong customer communication skills. Guide Databricks’ customers through their journey, providing expertise, knowledge, and strategic guidance to help them achieve value and meet business objectives using Databricks’ products. Manage Technical Solution Engineers, team leads, and operations personnel, overseeing team performance and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Monitor, report, and drive improvements in team-level metrics and KPIs, act as an escalation point for customer and internal issues and optimize support processes and tools for efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product Management, Sales, and Customer Success, to ensure seamless delivery of technical solutions and services. Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives, including conducting technical assessments, participating in interviews, mentoring new engineers, and delivering training sessions in areas of expertise. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports, perform annual reviews, and support career development through ongoing coaching and professional growth discussions. Telecommuting permitted. 40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.   

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computational Science, Analytics, Statistics or a related field, plus 36 months of experience in Data science, analytics, or a related role.

Alternatively, will accept Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computational Science, Analytics, Statistics or a related field plus 60 months of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in Data science, analytics, or a related role.

Of the required experience, must have 36 months in:

• Developing and automating tools, scripts, and processes to improve operational efficiency;
• Performance tuning and troubleshooting of distributed Big Data applications, including Hive and Spark, in production environments;
• Data warehousing and ETL technologies, such as Informatica, DataStage, Oracle, or Teradata;
• Managing Linux/Unix production environments;
• Programming languages such as: Python, Java, Scala, or Spark;
• Cloud platforms, such as: AWS, Azure, or GCP; and
• Implementing CI/CD pipelines, and setting up monitoring and alerting for production systems.

and 24 months of experience in 2 or more of the following (which may be gained concurrently):

• Big data/distributed system tools including Hive;
• Azure;
• Cloud;
• deep learning; and
• Machine Learning algorithms including classification.
