Position Summary

The New Mexico Statistical Analysis Center
(NMSAC) engages in applied criminal justice research and program evaluation. It
also currently houses the Intimate Partner Violence Death Review Team (IPVDRT). The IPVDRT is a multi-disciplinary
fatality review practice authorized by NMSA *31-22-4.1 and funded by the New
Mexico Crime Victim Reparations Commission. Fatality review is a method of
inquiry that seeks to identify ways to improve prevention and intervention
efforts through an examination of the facts and circumstances preceding a death.

The NMSAC is hiring a Program Assistant to help
primarily with IPVDRT tasks, but the individual may also help with other
projects as needed. IPVDRT tasks include assisting with gathering data, entering
data, preparing slide decks, preparing data for reports, and engaging in other
tasks as needed.

The position is expected to begin no later than
July 1, 2026, contingent on funding. The number of hours is negotiable but is
expected to be up to 40 hours in the summer and between 10 and 28 hours during
the academic year depending on funding and performance.


Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good organizational skills
  • Must be reliable, responsible, self-directed, and meet deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior research experience
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and dynamics of intimate partner violence are preferred
