Position Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for procuring materials, parts, components, services, and equipment to maintain a smooth flow for Cirtec, including managing spikes in demand with minimal adverse impact to the business. This position will strive to meet company objectives, monitor inventory levels, cost, and delivery of items/services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be an active team member to brainstorm ways to continue to reduce inventory, reduce cost, increase turns, and strengthen the supply chain.
  • Be an active member of the Purchasing Metrics to include but limited to Vendor On-Time, Inventory Dollars, and Expense Spend Tracking
  • Quote and procure components, consumables, services, and equipment as required. Develop relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best possible lead-time and cost. Negotiate blanket orders and/or other inventory management programs with appropriate suppliers
  • Generate and review MRP and Master Production Schedule (MPS) to verify accurate demand and to place orders for inventory components on a timely basis. Must be able to detect anomalies in demand
  • Must be able to develop and qualify new suppliers in a timely manner. Must be able to analyze competitive quotes
  • Review non-standard products and transition to "Production Ready". Understand the impact of item masters, routings, bills of materials, etc. on MRP and translate information to correctly set up for MRP
  • Work with Engineering, Customer Service and Inventory Management to plan and order inventory or materials to meet customer shipment schedules and Cirtec needs while maintaining inventories in a cost-effective manner
  • Work with Engineering and review new item masters to ensure item masters are set up correctly to maintain proper finance, inventory and purchasing guidelines
  • Comply with import and export guidelines to include providing correct codes for the import/export of components
  • Maintain and update the Approved Supplier List (ASL) to include Non-Disclosure Agreements. Must be able to ensure all appropriate forms/data meets the ASL requirements
  • Back up for Vendor On-Time Report. Support On-Time Delivery goal. Work with Receiving, Accounting, Quality and Suppliers to resolve issues
  • Provide guidance and training to Buyer(s)
  • Provide back-up for Purchasing Supervisor, Senior Buyer or other Buyer(s) as needed
  • Sign off on ECN's as needed
  • Assist the controller in setting annual material standard cost updates
  • Comply with company, quality and safety standards, policies, and procedures

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree and or APICS/ASCM certification
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated purchasing and supplier management background.
  • Experience in planning and scheduling techniques to drive on time delivery to Customers.
  • Experience with computers and computer software
  • Must be able to quickly learn new systems
  • Must be able to read blueprints and interpret technical specifications and illustrations
  • Supplier contract negotiation ability
  • Must be a critical thinker
  • Must be able to meet job requirements while following ISO policies
  • Extensive knowledge of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) concepts. Must be able to review MRP and Master Production Schedule (MPS) to verify for accurate demand
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
