Mission

Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an experienced ShopMechanic based out of Macon, GA location. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-4 years related experience (preference).

Main Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintenance of various types of heavy equipment and motor vehicles while adhering to all company safety policies.
  • Proper completion of any required paperwork/records regarding repairs to equipment and vehicles on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to carry out detailed instructions, take directions to job sites.
  • Must be able to use good judgement in decision-making and be able to work with or without direct supervision.
Education and Skills Required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years related experience.
  • Be able to weld (a plus).
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
  • Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mechanics must supply their own tools.
  • Must actively abide by the company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Must have a current, valid driver's license with a clear MVR.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:

* Must be able to climb onto and up and down a vehicle several times a day.
* Must be able to sit in a vehicle and operate it for several hours without stopping.
* Must withstand vibration from truck, road, and job site conditions as well as noise from the truck engine, other equipment and other traffic.
* Must be able to use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
* Must be able to climb into, onto, and around vehicles with the ability to twist, squat, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, left, finger and grasp, often in a prone or awkward position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Employee must not be color-blind as he must be able to differentiate colors when working on colored electrical wires. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.

Must be able to perform medium-to-heavy work, lifting heavy vehicle parts (with the help of a crane) of 60 pounds or more. Must be able to work while lying on a creeper underneath a vehicle and must have unrestricted manual dexterity of hands and wrists, as well as lower and upper arms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position requires exposure to extreme weather conditions, both inside and outside. Must not have allergies connected to fuel, lubrication oil and grease, or fumes from the engines. Work environment is generally very noisy.
