Job Title: Formulation Technician

Location: Newark, DE 19711

Duration: 12 Months (Possibility of extension depending upon business requirements and performance)

Reports To: Analytical & Formulary Group Leader

Function: R&D

Department: Mammalian Toxicity

Weekly Schedule (how many hours/days): 8 hrs/day and 40 hrs/week

Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? No

Job Purpose (General Summary):

  • Conduct technical laboratory assignments in support of in vitro and in vivo toxicology testing and research.
  • With minimal guidance from supervision or the Analytical & Formulary Group Leader, and within established procedures:
  • Guide Formulation and Sample management technician.
  • Prepare formulation sheets and documents for use on studies conducted at Haskell.
  • Prepare formulations for use on studies conducted at Haskell.
  • Manage the receipt, storage, distribution, and disposition of test substances according to SOPs, GLPs, and established safety procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation utilizing laboratory information/data management tools.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and strictly adhere to all GLP, SOP, and company procedures.
  • Receive, track, store, distribute, and dispose of test substances for use in studies conducted by or for Haskell R&D Center to meet business needs and GLP and regulatory expectations.
  • Write and follow formulation procedures to produce diet and dose formulations for in vivo and in vitro studies.
  • Use standard laboratory equipment and techniques including sterile skills to prepare formulations.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks containing all raw data and related documents.



Knowledge, Skills, Competencies and Experience

Education:

  • BS degree or equivalent experience in a scientific field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Animal Sciences).
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.



Knowledge and Experience:

  • Ability to understand and use documents such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Certificates of Analysis, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail and precision
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GLP procedures
  • Experience working with chemicals and/or biologicals in a laboratory setting
  • Ability to understand and use basic algebra
  • Ability to use applicable databases to complete assignments



Special Equipment Required:

  • Wear safety glasses/labcoat/N95 masks, lift 25-lb bags, and operate mixers
