Position Summary

The Detail Supervisor is responsible for leading the detailing team to ensure vehicles meet company quality standards, production goals, and safety requirements. This role oversees daily workflow, coaching, quality control, and coordination with other departments to deliver consistent, high-quality results while maintaining efficiency and team engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise day-to-day activities of detail associates and team leads
  • Assign workstations and tasks based on workload, skill level, and priorities
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members on proper detailing processes and expectations
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and address behavioral or performance concerns
  • Uphold company values, professionalism, and accountability within the team


Quality Control

  • Inspect completed vehicles to ensure they meet internal and customer quality standards
  • Ensure consistency across interior, exterior, engine bay, specialty, and de-identification services
  • Identify defects early to reduce rework and improve efficiency
  • Support EPP, quality audits, and corrective action efforts


Production & Workflow Management

  • Plan and manage daily production schedules to meet volume and deadline requirements
  • Monitor workflow and vehicle flow from intake through completion
  • Coordinate with inspection, recon, transport, and operations teams
  • Balance productivity with quality expectations


Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety guidelines, including proper chemical handling and PPE usage
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company policies
  • Report incidents and participate in safety meetings and training


Equipment & Supplies

  • Monitor use and condition of tools, machines, and chemicals
  • Report equipment issues and request maintenance or replacements
  • Control supply usage to minimize waste and control costs


Reporting & Communication

  • Track productivity, quality, and rework metrics
  • Communicate daily results, challenges, and staffing needs to management
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives


Staffing & Development

  • Assist with onboarding and training of new detail team members
  • Identify high performers and potential future leaders
  • Encourage cross-training to increase flexibility and team capability


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Safe driver's needed; valid driver's license required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in automotive detailing or reconditioning
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of detailing techniques, equipment, and chemicals
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor or shop environment.
  • Must be able to safely operate detailing equipment and tools.


Work Environment

  • Automotive shop / auction environment
  • Exposure to chemicals, noise, weather conditions, and vehicle operations


USD 61,100.00 - 91,700.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $61,100.00 - $91,700.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
