The School Nurse maintains accurate health records, ensures compliance with state and local regulations, and develops individualized healthcare plans for students with special needs. This role involves collaborating with teachers, administrators, parents, and healthcare providers to promote a safe and healthy school environment. The nurse also conducts health screenings, monitors immunization compliance, and responds to medical emergencies. Health education is a key component, including teaching students and staff about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. Strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations are essential.
