As a Food & Beverage Intern at the Hilton Bloomington, you will gain hands-on experience in the hospitality industry by working in various aspects of food service, restaurant operations and catering.

What will you be doing?

  • Meet and greet guests as they arrive, gather information such as name, check guest's reservations or log them in as set up.
  • Politely take guests to table, hand them menus, wine list, and inform them who their server will be, inform them of specials and leave with a courteous greeting.
  • Receive, record, and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant.
  • Act as a cashier for Dining Room.
  • Thank all guests graciously and invite them to return.
  • Assist with banquet event orders and set up for private functions.
  • Prepare trays and deliver to rooms.
  • Check floors to be sure all trays and carts are retrieved.
  • Keep room service area clean.
  • Perform side work (open, close and shift maintenance duties).
  • Maintain all cleanliness and sanitation of restaurant area along with personal hygiene.

What do you bring to the role?

  • Ability to read, speak, and write the English language, to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, and reservations.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items.
  • Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
  • Ability to interact with adults and children in a professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean environment and ensure area is always organized.
  • Ability to work POS system.
  • Computerized Reservation System handling.
  • Flexible schedule preferred.
  • No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
