Job Announcement

Elevate your career as a Business Intelligence Analyst with the Department of Information Technology! Reporting to Chief Director of Innovation, you'll empower data-informed decision-making and drive organizational transparency and efficiency by crafting compelling dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI and Tableau collaborating across teams to turn complex data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Builds strong stakeholder relationships by gathering reporting needs, defining KPIs, creating wireframes/prototypes, selecting optimal visualizations, applying UX principles, monitoring/updating dashboards, troubleshooting issues, and incorporating user feedback.
  • Leverages BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to develop interactive dashboards/reports, manage secure data connections, write advanced queries (e.g., DAX, SQL), perform data modeling, test for accuracy/reliability, and administer enterprise BI platforms.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation including query annotations, user guides, workflows, data governance, compliance standards, metadata repositories, version controls, and troubleshooting resources to ensure transparency and sustainability.
  • Performs other duties as required to support business intelligence and data efforts.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field and coursework in analytics, biosystematics, biology, information architecture, engineering, library science, statistics, sociology, demographics, and/or marketing, Plus five years analysis of data and information experience in an academic, data administration, or business data analytics environment that involves using data modeling, database consolidation, ad hoc query, or business intelligence tools, relational databases, metadata, XML schema design, and/or taxonomy.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing dashboards or reports using Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience writing queries using languages (e.g., DAX, SQL) to support business intelligence reporting.
  • Experience administering enterprise BI platforms (e.g., managing workspaces, gateways, permissions) in Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience with data modeling, secure data connections, dashboard administration, and cross-departmental metrics alignment.
  • Experience collaborating with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and define KPIs.
  • Strong visualization design and UX skills.
  • Expertise in documentation, data governance, and maintaining reporting standards.
  • Experience creating user documentation such as data dictionaries, metadata repositories, or workflow guides
  • Experience working in the Public sector
  • Enterprise BI experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary, performed in a normal office environment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
