Summer 2026 Braddock District Internship Opportunity!

Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer is accepting applications for a paid full-time (40 hours/week) internship. College students residing in the Braddock District are encouraged to apply.

The intern will assist with a myriad of public service activities, which may include:
* Coordinating events and meetings.
* Assisting constituents.
* Researching projects for Braddock District Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer and staff.
* Updating lists, such as homeowner association (HOA) contacts.
* Assisting with communications, including writing, graphic design, and social media
* The intern should have enthusiasm for public service at the local government level and be able to work independently.

Weekly schedules are negotiable for the full-time position. Braddock Office operating hours are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday with after-hours/weekend availability as needed. The District office is located at 9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke, VA, and is accessible by Fairfax Connector; a car is not necessary for internship eligibility.

Start and end dates are negotiable but will generally track with the student's summer break or summer semester calendar.

Employment Standards

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Familiarity with Braddock District and Fairfax County government
* Effective writing and verbal communications
* Researching and reporting results
* Technical skills such as: Excel, Microsoft Word, Canva, and databases
* Foreign language ability

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Panel interview.
