Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking experienced Network Technicians to support the US Marine Corps Voice Modernization effort across multiple West Coast installations, with primary operations centered at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. Nakupuna delivers turnkey EFIST solutions to modernize military communications infrastructure, including installation of Cisco IP telephony systems, network hardware, and supporting infrastructure.

The Network Technician will be responsible for the hands-on installation and implementation of network and voice hardware as part of a structured deployment team.

    Install and configure:
    • Cisco IP phones (e.g., 9841 series)
    • Network cabling and patching
    • Rack-mounted equipment (gateways, switches, UPS)
  • Support deployment activities including:
    • Phone swaps and activation
    • Equipment staging and setup
    • Basic system validation and testing
  • Assist with Verification Site Surveys (VSS):
    • Document existing infrastructure
    • Identify installation requirements
  • Perform troubleshooting of:
    • Connectivity issues
    • Device registration issues
    • Power and cabling problems
  • Maintain accurate installation documentation and asset tracking
  • Work closely with:
    • Network Engineers
    • UC Engineers
    • Field Leads
  • Follow established procedures for:
      • Installation
      • Quality assurance
      • Safety compliance
  • Meet daily production targets as part of a crew-based deployment model
  • Support after-hours or weekend work during cutover windows


Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications: The ideal candidate possesses expertise and experience in project management, especially within infrastructure and environmental services. Key qualifications include:

  • Basic understanding of:
    • TCP/IP networking
    • Ethernet and cabling
    • VLANs and switching concepts
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and grow in network engineering field

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required
  • 1-3 years of experience in network or voice infrastructure deployment
  • Cisco Certified Support Technician preferred

Location: Based in Southern California (Camp Pendleton / San Diego Oceanside region)

  • Travel required across West Coast installations
  • Travel may be 25-50% depending on phase

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Physical Requirements: In addition to the skills and qualifications mentioned above, candidates must, at a minimum, be able to meet the following physical requirements.

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in communications rooms, IDFs, MDFs
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and overhead work
