Finance Manager - Remote Position

Location: The ideal candidate resides within the Pacific Time Zone.

The Finance Manager works with department leads to produce budgets, forecasts, variance analyses and general support, maintains our financial forecasting system, and manages the purchase order process. Additionally, the Manager will assist Accounting in support of close activities and audit requests. Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

Major Duties / Responsibilities

Budgeting:

  • Directly support numerous department leads to produce budgets, regular forecast updates and variance analyses

  • Troubleshoot issues for Operating Departments and Accounting

  • Work with HR to coordinate budgeted new hires and placement

  • Perform payroll budgeting and forecasting for all departments

  • Track unbudgeted items between Budget/Forecast periods

  • Support accounting in close and audit activities

  • Maintain general oversight of all departmental operating expenses

Financial Systems Maintenance:

  • Ensure that NetSuite Planning and Budgeting (NSPB) functions as expected and liaise with internal and external support to address related issues

  • Ensure that upgrades are tested and work appropriately

  • Train staff in the use of NSPB systems as needed

  • Create and maintain user instructions for NSPB

Purchase Order Management and Invoice Support:

  • Oversee the processing of all purchase orders, ensuring proper accounting and contract approval

  • Follow up with staff on requisitions/contracts that are incomplete

  • Liaise with Quality Assurance regarding the processing of new vendors

  • Work with operating groups to address billing disputes with vendors until disputes are resolved

Special Projects:

  • Execute special projects as assigned in a timely manner

  • Expand knowledge of financial statement forecasting and revenue forecasting

Supervisory Duties:

  • Manage one Sr. Financial Analyst

Required Education and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum of 5-8 years Accounting and/or Finance experience

  • Experience with financial forecasting software (preferably Oracle PBCS or NetSuite NSPB)

Preferred Education and Experience

  • MBA or CPA a plus

  • Biotech or pharma experience a plus

  • Highly advanced oral, written and presentation skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and finance liaisons in operating divisions

  • Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-finance colleagues

  • Prior supervisory experience a plus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, approximately 8:30 AM to 5 PM, depending on the schedule for the day. This position occasionally requires working outside of these hours, and may extend to evenings and weekends as business needs require.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional, virtual environment, working from a remote location, usually the employee's home.

Travel

The role requires infrequent travel. Minimal travel may be required for meetings and/or conferences, up to 5%.

Physical Demands

This is a remote position with employees working from a home office. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this position. The physical demands of the home office are normally associated with extended amounts of time sitting and using office equipment (including a computer, keyboard, and mouse), standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Compensation Range

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $155,000 per year. Higher compensation may be available for someone with advanced skills and/or experience.

Any offer would include a competitive base salary (estimate shared above), an annual bonus target, and a robust benefits package. Actual individual pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
