| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Continuous Improvement, Staff Development and Engagement (
CISDE) department provides campus wide financial systems training for staff who utilize the financial module of the Connect Carolina system (PeopleSoft), purchasing cards, web travel, time information management (
TIM) system and customer billing management. The department provides the opportunity for faculty or staff who hold a Certified Public Accountant license the ability to earn continuing professional education credits through courses offered throughout the year. Within the division of Finance and Operations (F&O),
CISDE facilitates continuous improvement through business process improvement, lean methodology and internal training programs.
CISDE also coordinates leadership training, professional development and compliance and safety training for staff within F&O. |
| Position Summary |
Hybrid: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Service Center of Excellence's, Continuous Improvement, Staff Development, and Engagement (
CISDE) is responsible for developing training resources and materials for various units within the University's Division of Finance and Operations. In particular, our office collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop, deploy, and update instructor guides, quick reference cards, computer-based trainings (CBTs), train-the-trainer materials, and more. Likewise, our unit also conducts live training in-person and virtual trainings.
As directed by the
CISDE Director, this position is responsible for implementing training needs assessment results, designing, developing, and delivering a variety of learning solutions, including instructor-led courses, computer-based trainings (CBTs), webinars, instructor and student guides, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, job aids, and reference materials for identified customers. The role ensures training content aligns with applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines, and incorporates research-based best practices for adult learning to effectively communicate complex subjects in a clear and engaging manner.
This position collaborates with subject matter experts to update and maintain training materials, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and consistency across all learning resources. Additionally, the role emphasizes digital accessibility, ensuring all materials and presentations adhere to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
The position also serves as a Learning Administrator for Carolina Talent My Learning (learning management system). Success in this role requires strong attention to detail and organizational skills, along with the ability to quickly learn new skills, work independently, and effectively manage multiple competing priorities within a diverse workload. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
Familiar with the andragogy/pedagogy needs of our customer base.
Familiarity with digital accessibility guidelines and
WCAG accessibility standards.
Experience with new and emerging technologies that are applicable to adult learners.
Experience with Articulate Storyline software.
Experience working in the field of higher education. |

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to mentally process technical information from SMEs. Then articulate the information in such a way that allows the general employee to readily understand their designated duties and responsibilities. |
