Conduct tests to determine quality of raw materials and finished products on mechanical and physical properties. Maintain working knowledge of rigid bottles, closures and other materials. Assist in determining what is needed to accomplish and conclude required container testing. Communicate with lab manager on lab requests, time requirements and scheduling.
Perform duties safely, ensure safety of others and comply with Altium policies.
Receive lab requests from internal and external customers, determine questions to be answered in forensic investigations, quality verification, or research/development studies, perform required tests, write and publish clear reports that answer questions posed. Assist lab manager to determine how to approach customer problems and perform tests as quickly and accurately as possible Help to prioritize laboratory work load, monitor or track projects, milestones/progress and deliverables Utilize MPSs and product design drawings as specifications for materials to be tested. Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data for release. Conduct routine analyses or visual inspections of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods. Use equipment effectively and accurately to measure bottle properties. Perform or assist experiments on color measurement, haze and gloss indexes, light transmission and clarity, fill volume, height, weight and density measurements, wall thickness, melt flow index, layer analyses, Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR) testing, FTIR measurements and analyses, mechanical strength and flexural properties utilizing the Instron testing machine, drop resistance and other tests. Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms. Compile laboratory test data and perform appropriate analyses. Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits Maintain list of supplies needed and verify with manager for approval Keep detailed records and organize shipping and lab receivables Maintain a clean lab environment, clean lab equipment, lab surfaces and environmental chambers Other duties as assigned by supervisor Perform duties safely, ensure safety of others and comply with Altium policies.

HS degree Two-plus years of experience as a laboratory or quality technician Basic knowledge of material science Basic knowledge of testing methods for packaging

Laboratory Equipment: 140 degree oven (Environmental Stress Crack Resistance), scales (bottle fill, weight), Thickness measuring devices, Tension testers (Vertical Load testing pull strength), etc. Computer programs - Internet, Altium Intranet, Microsoft Suite
