Overview:

Egan Company is seeking qualified candidates for an Superintendent to join our Rochester, MN team. The Superintendent oversees field operations for the Southern MN group, including safety, productivity, and quality control, and manages labor and subcontractors across all project phases to ensure high-standard project delivery.


Responsibilities:

The basic responsibilities of the Superintendent include, but are not limited to the following:




  • Foster a proactive safety culture, drive adherence to company Safety Absolutes, facilitate high-impact safety meetings, and collaborate closely with safety team members and project managers to identify, lead, and eliminate hazards.



  • Develop and maintain high-trust, professional relationships with internal partners, general contractors, owners, subcontractors, engineer/design teams, vendors, and inspectors.



  • Actively develop, train, and coach field employees and the next generation of field leaders.



  • Act as the primary point of contact for union representatives to discuss and resolve labor issues professionally.



  • Drive the growth of the Southern MN team by mentoring future field leaders and assisting with the recruitment and hiring of high-caliber field staff.



  • Ensure all projects are optimally staffed according to the master schedule to prevent delays.



  • Oversee the full lifecycle of field staffing; determine labor needs, request labor from the union hall, and manage the sensitive process of project-based layoffs or transitions.



  • Proactively identify and implement prefabrication opportunities to increase site efficiency and reduce waste.



  • Partner closely with Project Managers on billing accuracy and financial tracking to ensure project health.




Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or GED required; secondary trade school or construction management coursework preferred.



  • 5+ years of experience in electrical construction, with at least 3 years in a Superintendent or Field Leader role; licensed electrician experience is a plus.



  • Experience working in a union environment.



  • Must obtain OSHA-30 certification within six (6) months from date of hire (if not already certified).



  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.



  • Willingness to travel occasionally.





Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service and ability to quickly build relationships.



  • Ability to identify site hazards and property loss risks; a track record of implementing "Safety Absolutes" on active jobsites.



  • Proficient in reading complex blueprints, specifications, and BIM models; ability to identify and drive prefabrication opportunities to improve field efficiency.



  • Competency with construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, or ACC) for tracking project status and field reports.



  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.



  • Highly organized with the ability to track and manage the status of a project.



  • Advanced interpersonal skills to navigate labor issues, subcontractor disputes, and high-pressure site challenges with a solution-oriented mindset.



  • Proven experience working within a union environment and familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).



  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.



  • Possess time management skills to efficiently manage multiple responsibilities and priorities simultaneously under time constraints.




Working conditions:


  • Performance of duties will be in the office, at customer sites, and job sites as needed.



  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.



  • Exposure to loud noise, dirt, and exposure to the elements are to be expected on job sites.



  • Climbing ladders/stairs, uneven ground, bending, kneeling, and twisting are to be expected on job sites.

Hourly Range: $54.44 - $55.92 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set).
