Description

The Head of Product and Business Development is responsible for driving product development based on market & customer requirements. This role would be involved in product development as well as successful implementation of internal and commercial customer projects. This role is also responsible for managing and advising the team members who contribute to the overall success of customer projects. The role also includes engaging customers at a business development level, developing leads and providing quotes.

Essential Duties:

Product Leadership



  • Align Product strategy with company goals
  • Define and manage the overall product vision, strategy, and roadmap (GOS, Gate OCR, crane OCR, Rail OCR, and GOS lite)

    • Formulate product strategy (scalable, flexible, design rules to support existing and new customers)
    • Identify key product features and functionalities based on ROI and market demands
    • Drive development to meet product strategy requirements and delivery timeline


  • Build and lead cross-functional teams
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams
  • Customer engagement (Pre-Sales/Sales to Project Phase/Project Completion)
  • Monitor KPIs and ensure product-market fit


Business Development



  • Pursue new leads

    • GOS & OCR
    • CAP
    • GOS Lite


  • Quotes - Review & issue quotes

    • Field all business development inquiries
    • Identify requests for quotes and assess product vs. customization
    • Interface with Development on hours




Product Development Life Cycle



  • Ideation and Research - Get user/customer feedback and market research
  • Planning and Prototyping - Provide the roadmap and build a prototype based on the functional requirements, manage product feature vs customizations
  • Design new cost-effective gates and disseminate to appropriate teams
  • Testing and Quality Assurance - UL Certification and ongoing- (Kiosks & OCR Portals)
  • Launch and post-launch optimization - monitor performance and continuous improvement based on user feedback



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 20+ years' Experience in Logistics / Container Terminal Operations/ Stevedoring/ etc.
  • Gate / Yard / Navis or any other TOS Implementation
  • Create Test Cases / Process flow for Gate, Appointment Systems


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Project Manager for Gate implementations and other technology projects
  • Senior Operations Manager for Gate and Yard Operations
  • Experience in Container Operations and Trucking Community Engagement
  • Leadership mindset, strong communication skills, and concise writing skills


Working Conditions:



  • Primarily in Office Setting. Expect travel to and visitation of customer terminals.
  • Physical Activities include sitting, standing, walking and using stairs.
  • Will communicate over calls and in-person to customers, operations staff, IT staff, and internal staff.
  • Position will have to travel when necessary for success of customer projects (go-live, requirements gathering, etc.)
  • Position will require in-office presence when necessary.
  • Employee will be exposed to live container terminals and construction zones.
