Summary:

Senior Manager, Fuel Category

  • Owns fuel category - drives brand strategy, product offerings, site performance metrics, and incremental fuel GP capture
  • Manage external business relationships with fuel and 3rd party suppliers with Supply, develop and drive brand offerings by market
  • Integral to supply & demand planning team collaboration, arb capture, pull point optimization, customer product allocation, organic growth market priorities, and target margins by geography
  • Operations & Contract Compliance - contract min volume, underlit actions, formula-based margin, unams management, flow rate targets, automatic price change (COAG), market performance
  • Propose, design, and deliver plans for alternative fuel products that drive incremental EBIDTA and operating efficiency at site - examples: E15, incremental diesel, race fuels, cash/credit/loyalty pricing at retail, kerosene

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Business leader of retail Fuel P&L and value propositions, including its fuel brand strategy and product offers.

  • Collaborate with other internal stakeholders to ensure the design and delivery of an attractive cross-functional customer value proposition.

  • Engage with stakeholders across all functions and at all levels on retail fuel performance, key decisions, special projects, and evolution of customer offer and core capabilities.

Business Operation

  • Accountable for strategic and financial outcomes of relationships with key external organizations (i.e., suppliers, customers, partners).

  • Design and deliver projects on time and on budget under the retail fuel mandate (E15, Higher octane fuel products, automatic price change, cleanliness fuel products, pump flow rate, standardization fuel forecourt standards and equipment).

  • Participate in all fuel related business cycles (i.e., planning, execution, performance) establishing direction and priorities.

  • Participate in various workstreams related to operating model (i.e., people, process, system) that impacts fuel P&L.


Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Business and financial acumen, negotiation ability, strategic and operational decision-making ability, product and channel innovation experience, and operating model and capability improvement expertise.

  • Experience with the retail fuel industry, including supply chain, marketing, consumer trends, value chain economics, competitive dynamics, and other factors influencing sales, gross margin, and competitive position.

  • Management experience in leading large projects (including new product launches, and business / operating model transformation), complex contract negotiation and structuring, issue resolution, and stakeholder management. Results-driven and entrepreneurial.

  • Success in working with and influencing teams and key stakeholders across functional groups - including Supply, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and IT - to lead and deliver cross-functional product offerings and capabilities.

  • At least five years of relevant work experience, demonstrating: strong operational, financial, analytical, consultative, and communication skills; leadership in defining and implementing change and projects; a proven record of positive business results; and an increasing level of responsibility.

  • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, engineering, or related fields.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

  • Ability to travel 50 - 75% of the time with overnight stays required.

  • Complete all travel and expense related reports.

  • Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends
