Technology Applications Specialist

Cooley is seeking an Applications Specialist to join the Technology team.

Position summary: Cooley Technology embraces a culture of customer service excellence, and all members of the department are expected to move this agenda forward. To that end, the Technology Applications Specialist is responsible for supporting and enhancing legal technology platforms, including Microsoft Office, iManage, Litera Create, Metadact, Litera Compare, and comparable enterprise solutions by designing, configuring, and deploying systems that improve workflows and drive strong user adoption while maintaining the stability and reliability of legacy applications such as Forte and DocXtools. This role will clearly translate complex technical concepts into practical, actionable guidance for stakeholders at every level of the firm. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical support for the Litera ecosystem, including Litera Compare Desktop, Contract Companion, DocXtools, Litera Create (Templates), Best Authority, Metadact, Check, Numbering, and legacy Forte applications
  • Administer Litera Client Administrator, managing global settings, policies, and user profiles during the consolidation of legacy point products
  • Resolve complex document integrity, styling, and template migration issues, including numbering and formatting standardization
  • Administer the Box enterprise environment, including workspace provisioning, folder structures, permissions, security controls, and audit reporting
  • Manage DocuSign administration, supporting advanced envelope configuration, templates, routing issues, and integration troubleshooting
  • Serve as subject matter expert for iManage Work 10 and third-party integrations, resolving desktop, COM add-in, and workflow-related issues
  • Partner with internal teams to improve processes, deliver user training, maintain documentation, and drive continuous platform improvements
  • Support end-user software rollouts by developing and executing QA test scripts, troubleshooting and resolving application issues after hours as needed, and partnering with vendors to remediate defects and integration issues across multiple software platforms
  • Continually update and enhance basic skills in software and systems through firm training and professional development
  • Take ownership and initiative for problem resolution, spot potential problem areas, analyze solutions, propose resolution, ensure implementation and perform appropriate follow-up
  • Provide detailed documentation for procedures, installations and upgrades of supported applications and systems for consumption across support teams and end-users
  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • 4+ years' directly applicable experience (e.g., experience supporting enterprise applications in on-premise or hybrid environments). Senior candidates considered with 5+ years experience.
  • Experience administering DocuSign and Adobe Acrobat Pro to manage digital signatures and complex PDF workflows
  • Ability to interpret Azure Entra ID authentication errors and manage identity access issues
  • Operational experience supporting applications in hybrid or public cloud environments like Azure or AWS with readiness to support SaaS based solutions
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex application and integration issues within Windows environments, using standard diagnostic tools and applicationspecific troubleshooting techniques

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Advanced degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical writing and documentation
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages or higher-level development languages
  • Relevant technical certifications, such as Microsoft 365, Windows operating systems, and application or systems administration, with a focus on enduser and enterprise software support
  • Prior legal experience or experience working in professional services

Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. EOE.

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $93,000 - $135,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate. Senior level candidates may be considered for this position and would be eligible for a higher salary range based on experience.
