This role serves as a key member of the finance function, providing leadership across technical accounting, financial reporting, and the monthly close. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining a high-integrity accounting environment that supports a growing and increasingly complex business. The role leads the close process, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity in financial reporting, while overseeing and developing a team of accounting professionals. It also serves as a primary technical accounting resource, guiding complex and non-routine transactions and ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations in a private equity-owned environment. In addition, this role strengthens execution by improving existing processes, reinforcing controls, and promoting accountability and continuous improvement, while partnering across the organization to support consistent and well-documented financial reporting. Requirements
Financial Reporting & Audit Leadership *Provide leadership and accountability for external audits, including the annual financial statement audit, FAR audit, and 401(k) audit *Oversee the integrity and readiness of financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders, including private equity ownership and lenders *Serve as a primary point of contact for auditors, ensuring timely coordination, clear communication, and resolution of complex matters *Anticipate reporting and documentation needs and ensure the organization is prepared to meet them Technical Accounting & Complex Transactions *Serve as a primary resource on US GAAP, providing guidance on complex and non-routine transactions *Lead the accounting approach for debt, equity, and acquisition activity, ensuring sound judgment and clear documentation *Oversee development of technical accounting positions and supporting documentation that withstand audit and stakeholder review *Partner cross-functionally to translate accounting implications into clear and practical guidance Close Leadership, Team Development & Operational Execution *Lead the monthly close process, ensuring results are accurate, timely, and well supported *Oversee and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing direction, review, and ongoing feedback *Reinforce consistency, accountability, and clear expectations across the close and reporting process *Drive improvement of existing processes to strengthen efficiency, coordination, and quality of reporting *Partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes that impact financial reporting Required Qualifications *Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA required *Minimum of 4 years in public accounting and preferred 4 years in corporate accounting *Strong knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to apply it to transactions *Demonstrated experience leading audits and preparing audit-ready financial statements and documentation *Proven ability to lead and develop a team while driving accountability *Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex accounting matters *Track record of continuous improvement and supporting scalable processes Preferred Qualifications *Experience in a private equity-backed or highly acquisitive environment *Experience operating in a growing business with increasing transaction complexity About Westwood Professional Services, Inc.
