This maintenance position provides mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance and reliability improvements in a chemical manufacturing facility, in compliance with applicable national and regional codes, standards and regulations. The mission of the Maintenance Department is to maintain & improve plant reliability by ensuring these services are performed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in a cost-effective manner.

A Day in the Life

1. Use proactive hazard recognition techniques to work safely at all times, intervening to safeguard others, and actively support the plant safety culture.
2. Know and follow plant policies and procedures.
3. Certified in proper rigging techniques (NCCER) and signaling for lifting heavy loads.
4. Have strong analytical skills to systematically troubleshoot and repair stationary, rotating, and reciprocating process equipment.
5. General knowledge of layout and fabrication of piping and tubing, valve and fitting replacements, and proper disassembly and assembly of stationary equipment.
6. General knowledge of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, gear reducers, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
7. Proficiency with mechanical alignment and measurement techniques and tools.
8. Become qualified and safely operate rolling equipment (Crane, Fork Truck, etc.)
9. Be available to work overtime, off hour call-outs, and duty weeks.
10. Support department qualification requirements and succession plans
11. Continuously develop new skills as a diverse multi-craft technician workforce
12. Use computer systems to retrieve information and report work completed

You Bring This Value

1. Able to read mechanical drawings/diagrams
2. Experienced with mechanical tools and measuring devices
3. Basic computer software and hardware familiarity
4. Skilled in basic mathematics including first level algebra
5. Good communication skills
6. High commitment to the craft, willing to learn and accept new challenges
7. Self-starter and capable of leading formal or informal work groups


Preferred Attributes
A High school diploma or equivalent, associate degree in mechanical maintenance field, with 5+ yrs. of similar industrial mechanical maintenance experience using math and measurement skills. Proficiency executing maintenance tasks under adverse conditions such as heavy lifting, cramped working conditions, extreme weather conditions, confined spaces, elevated heights and noisy jobsites. Technicians will contribute to a team setting maintaining high quality of craftsmanship and housekeeping standards. Job may require extended hours, work on weekends; call-outs and turnaround work (days & nights) upon request. Other personal qualities essential for success are; a desire to share knowledge and experiences, a willingness to work cooperatively, self-motivated, ethical behavior, strong adherence to commitments, seek and accept accountability for individual actions and desire to achieve superior technical and interpersonal outcomes.
