Job Description

We are currently hiring an Assistant EHS&S Manager in Milton, DE.

Our Assistant Environmental Health Safety & Security (EHS&S) Manager at the Milton Brewery supports the implementation and daytoday management of EHS&S programs, helping ensure a safe workplace and strong compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements. This role partners closely with site leadership and the broader Boston Beer EHS team to reinforce safety as a core value while driving consistent adherence to EHSS programs. In this position, you'll be responsible for supporting workers' compensation administration, contractor safety, site security, providing safety training, and regulatory compliance efforts related to OSHA, EPA, and state agencies. The Assistant EHS&S Manager will collaborate with managers, supervisors, and coworkers to promote safe work practices, identify risks, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the brewery.

This position maintains regular interaction with external partners such as insurance carriers, consultants, and regulatory agencies, while escalating complex issues as needed. The role plays an important handson part in sustaining a strong safety culture and supporting the company's commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen, with guidance and oversight from the Sr. Manager, EHS Programs. The role has dual reporting to the Director of Brewery Operations and the Sr. Manager, EHS Programs.

What You'll Brew:

  • Strengthen brewery EHS culture through coworker engagement, ownership, accountability and behavior-based safety efforts
  • Conduct compliance audits and reviews necessary to meet company and local compliance requirements to reduce risk liability
  • Assist with development and administration of company EHS programs and drive implementation at the brewery
  • Oversight of the brewery safety committees with intent of driving engagement through regularly scheduled meetings within departments and brewery-wide
  • Manages contractor safety & contractor pre-qualification program
  • Deliver EHS coworker orientation & training and provide visibility through reporting
  • Assist with development and maintenance of EHS written programs and policies
  • Perform data entry and assist with injury analysis and prevention measures
  • Assist with energy reduction and sustainability initiatives
  • Responsible for Worker's Compensation at the brewery, including partnership with medical provider(s) and 3rd party claim company
  • Supports company ergonomics and worksite injury prevention program
  • Assist with emergency response plans, activities and drills
  • Prepare EHS communications, metrics and reports
  • Conduct EHS audits and inspections; develop audit reports
  • Assist with coordinating industrial hygiene surveys (noise, chemicals, and contaminants)
  • Support regulatory waste compliance and waste reduction activities
  • Drive EHS compliance through training, audits, process/equipment review and proactive risk elimination
  • Provide EHS leadership and support for the Milton Brewery
  • Assist with the development and coordination of Behavioral Safety Processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • There are frequent exposure production environments:
    • Subject to loud and constant noise
    • Non-environmentally conditioned spaces which may lead to extreme hot and cold
    • Operating environment is complex and densely populated with production equipment and forklifts that necessitates high situational awareness
    • Work overtime as needed which may require 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years related experience required
  • Worker's Compensation Management
  • Contractor Management
  • Good communication skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising others
  • Experience with and understanding of TPM Methodology

Level: 6IC

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $67,000 and $114,00. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
