Position Summary

The Department of
Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences
at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health
Sciences Center is expanding and seeks an outstanding vitreoretinal surgeon to
join our rapidly growing group. This position's expertise will significantly contribute
to the preservation and restoration of vision in our patients.

Applicants must have
completed an accredited vitreoretinal surgery fellowship. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice at the UNM
Hospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existing faculty for
call and medical student and resident education. Candidates are expected to
have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and research in an
academic setting. The qualified applicant will be joining an established
and busy vitreoretinal surgical service with one other full-time attending
physician. As part of the UNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides a
rewarding mix of tertiary and indigent care with a wide breadth of medical and
surgical retinal pathology. Surgery is performed in an outpatient surgical center
and incoming surgeons can expect to quickly build up to 5-7 surgical cases per
week. Opportunities for clinical trial participation are available if
interested.

UNM is committed to building a healthy,
well-educated, economically vigorous New Mexico. The Health Sciences Center and
School of Medicine have new leadership, and the entire institution is well
poised for the future. We are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art
treatments, cutting-edge research, and education. Our team of medical
professionals is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of our
patients.

Rank and salary will
be commensurate with experience and credentials.

UNM employees enjoy a generous benefits package that
includes:

  • Competitive salary
  • Low-cost medical and dental plans
  • Excellent retirement plans with a strong employer
    contribution
  • Opportunity for Public Service Loan Forgiveness
  • Disability and life insurance
