| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The School of Education oversees the university's educator preparation program (
EPP). The
EPP is
multifaceted and provides many services and programming in the area of teacher education. The
overarching goal of the School of Education is to prepare students for careers in education. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of the Employment and Job Skills Coordinator is to support students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in obtaining and sustaining competitive, integrated employment by providing individualized career exploration, job development, and on-the-job coaching. This position works directly with students and employers to build job-specific and transferable workplace skills, promote self-advocacy and professionalism, and ensure appropriate supports are in place to facilitate success and increasing independence. Through person-centered planning, employer collaboration, and ongoing progress monitoring, the Employment and Job Skills Coordinator will help students translate postsecondary experiences into meaningful employment outcomes aligned with their interests, strengths, and long-term goals |
| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Ability to provide person-centered academic coaching that supports diverse learning needs and promotes student independence in a postsecondary environment.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and instructional staff to facilitate inclusive learning experiences while maintaining academic integrity.
- Ability to plan, monitor, and document student academic progress using data-informed and goal-driven practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with students, families, faculty, and multidisciplinary program staff.

| Minimum Education/Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field
- Master's preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to working and serving students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Relevant experience working in engagement, coordination, community partnerships, or student services in higher education or nonprofit/community settings.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
