Senior Accountant - Hybrid Work Schedule

The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with month end close and financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, process and policy improvements, and other designated areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and procedures
  • Assist with the implementation of controls, policies, and procedures to support the growth and expansion of the company
  • Complete month end close entries and accruals by established month end close deadline
  • Analyze financial transactions and accounts to determine accuracy and completeness of entries
  • Complete reconciliation of assigned general and subledger accounts ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, and work with other departments to ensure proper resolution
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, for multiple levels of management
  • Work closely with business unit leaders to review financial statements, conduct trend and budget to actual variance analyses, and resolve discrepancies as necessary
  • Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries
  • Supports CFO and Controller with special projects as assigned

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting is required
  • CPA preferred

Knowledge & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in financial accounting
  • Thorough understanding of functional accounting areas and financial analysis and reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills is preferred
  • Petroleum experience preferred

Qualifications & Characteristics

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision to meet deadlines

Work Environment

  • Hybrid Work Schedule is available once training is completed (3 days in the office, 2 days remote)
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components
