The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), Chicago’s largest public research university and a nationally recognized R1 research institution, invites applications for an Assistant Director of Research Development in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR). This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the center of UIC’s expanding research enterprise. Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Research, the Assistant Director will play a key role in advancing strategic research initiatives, supporting interdisciplinary team science and helping faculty compete successfully for major external funding opportunities. UIC’s research portfolio continues to grow across the health sciences, engineering, social sciences and the humanities. The Office of Research Development partners with faculty and campus leadership to position UIC for large-scale, high-impact funding opportunities from federal agencies, foundations and industry. The Assistant Director will work closely with faculty leaders, researchers and university administration to identify emerging opportunities, coordinate strategic proposal efforts and develop programs that strengthen the university’s research competitiveness. This role is ideal for a scientist or research professional who enjoys working at the intersection of research strategy, collaboration and institutional growth.
