Development Associate
Position: Temporary
Pay Rate: $24 - $25 per hour
Love details, clean data, and the satisfying feeling of getting things right? We're looking for a temporary Development Associate who understands that behind every gift is a person who chose to support our mission and that timely, thoughtful acknowledgment and accurate recordkeeping are a big part of honoring that generosity.
In this role, you'll help keep our fundraising operation running smoothly and effectively. You'll manage essential administrative and donor-related tasks such as entering donor data, generating acknowledgment letters, reconciling gifts with Finance, and pulling reports and lists as needed. In other words: you'll help make sure our data is clean, our donors are thanked quickly, and our team has the information it needs to build strong relationships and raise critical support.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and energized by behind-the-scenes work that makes a real difference. If you take pride in accuracy, enjoy creating order, and know that a prompt thank-you goes a long way, you might be a great fit.
Job Responsibilities
- Enter, update, and maintain donor records in Bloomerang, including contact details, gift history, communication preferences, and event participation.
- Track and record donations, pledges, and payments from multiple sources, including Bloomerang Fundraising, employee giving platforms, and donor-advised fund platforms.
- Keep online giving and event profiles current in Bloomerang Fundraising.
- Generate and send timely, accurate donor acknowledgment letters, including both automated and personalized correspondence.
- Maintain clean, well-organized donor data through regular segmentation, tagging, audits, and data clean-up efforts.
- Prepare accurate donor lists and data sets for fundraising appeals, reports, and event invitations, and help update related templates, tools, workflows, and documentation.
- Produce weekly reports on donor activity, fundraising progress, and giving trends to support team decision-making and identify opportunities for engagement.
- Support gift reconciliation and daily fiscal operations by tracking incoming donations, preparing deposit reports, and coordinating with Finance to ensure accurate records.
- Conduct donor and prospect research using wealth screening tools, foundation research, and donor profiling to support cultivation and major gift strategies.
- Provide administrative and event support for the Advancement team, including meeting coordination, note-taking, registration, event setup, day-of operations, and other duties as assigned.
Work Experience/Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with strong skills in Excel and data analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency in database management and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and organize large amounts of data and many steps to each task.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Preferred but not required: 1-2 years of experience in development, donor relations, or administrative support, preferably within a nonprofit environment.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to draft personalized donor correspondence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for events or special projects.
