Job Description Summary:
The Director of Member Services will provide strong leadership to ensure The People Concern participants and clients are provided the access to the art program and k9 services. The Director of Member services works closely with other agency colleagues and partners to provide direct services including art supplies, art workshops, veterinary clinics, pet pantries, pet food and supplies and medical visits. The Director will also be responsible for leadership within the community to bring in both volunteer and financial support to both the k9 and art program.
Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day operations of the Arts Program and k9 connection
- Provide supervision to the staff, consultants, interns and volunteers
- Lead and coordinate services, projects, including art, music and other creative expression for members and the community at large
- Provide consultation and support across the agency in the realm of arts, music and pet-related healthcare and other available resources
- Supervise volunteers and interns providing services and support.
- Coordinate and facilitate groups and community integration events
- Facilitate and participate in opportunities for The People Concern members to display and sell their art or perform in community events
- Oversee budget for the Arts and k9 Program, including the solicitation of donations for the programming.
- Develop effective, trusting relationships with members, with a focus on facilitating independence and maintenance of improved physical and mental health
- Maintain a current, thorough knowledge of community resources relevant to k9 connection and the Arts Program and utilize these to effectively support the work of members and The People Concern staff
- Ensure adherence to all Funders contracts and performance standard
- Develop and maintain complete, accurate, and current member records in electronic databases and member charts of services provided
- Maintain up to date, accurate, and complete inventory of equipment and donations, up-to-date resources to provide to participants
- In coordination with the Development team, strategize and plan fundraising campaigns, including a social media schedule and fundraising events
- Maintain departmental web pages and keep them updated
- Submit all reports by the 5th business day of the month for prior month's expenses/ services
- Make sure program vehicle is well maintained, washed and fueled
- Attend and participate in community events with other organizations, showcasing k9 connection and the Arts Program
- Develop effective, trusting relationships with members, guiding them with training techniques and education through resources
- Have a working knowledge of all our resources, partners and those with whom we can network
- Attend networking, partnering, training and work-related events as beneficial
Job Description Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of four (4) years' full-time experience working with the homeless, preferably those living with mental illness and/or substance addictions.
- Two (2) years' supervisory experience.
- Current, valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Knowledge of or able to learn the policies and procedures of the banking process.
- Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Google Docs. Ability to design flyers in Adobe programs, a plus.
- Detail oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills
- Able to learn quickly and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
- Self-starter able to stay ahead of the curve and thrive in fast-paced work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work independently and creatively.
Job Description Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate course work or master's degree in related field preferred.
Job Description Work Environment:
- Combination of field and office environment; regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
- May necessitate working in busy and loud environments.
- May be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor.
- May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day.
- On occasion walk or drive to different local sites
