Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 10 years of experience in material operations. 5 years supervisory/management experience. Position Purpose: Manages the inventory management and/or production control operations of all related material functions including, but not limited to, inventory control, shipping, receiving, procurement, shop floor control, purchasing, planning, quality, logistics, material planning and/or off-site functions.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Manages and implements integrated processes and procedures between cross-site/cross-functional areas to facilitate timely and consistent flow of materials/parts though the system.
  2. Oversees material inventory to minimize the cost associated with excess, slow moving, and obsolete inventory, to include ensuring an accurate accountability of inventory. Identifies root causes for excess and inactive inventory and develops problem resolutions.
  3. Develops and implements planning tools which project material requirements, identify critical path components, prevent future shortages, and alert the responsible planner of the need for corrective action.
  4. Manages subordinate personnel and provides guidance and training to ensure skill sets, knowledge and educational capabilities meet position requirements.
  5. Manages supply chain, material planning and procurement activities in support of manufacturing and service schedules. .
  6. Reviews manufacturing schedule changes, assesses impact, and implements appropriate actions.
  7. Reviews industry technology trends; aggressively develop strategies, plans and schedules for process improvements and implementation of best practices to achieve cycle time and cost reductions.
  8. Coordinates delivery of off site facilities in support of manufacturing and/or service schedule.
  9. Formulates and implements plans to develop, train, promote and recognize personnel skills and achievement.
  10. Works effectively with functional management to balance resources (machinery and manpower/skills) to achieve goals and objectives at the least cost.
  11. Manages department within budget; provides organizational resources and performance targets; ensures compliance to standards.
  12. Identifies, promotes, and manages Lean initiatives and principles in support of manufacturing and operational objectives.
Additional Functions:
  1. Manages department safety programs in compliance with safety regulations; conducts periodic safety audits. .
  2. Represents department in ad hoc communication or process improvement meetings. .
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. Certified in APICS (Just in Time, Production Activity Control, and Material Capacity Requirements Planning) preferred.
  2. Knowledge of governmental regulations and interpretations preferred. Ensures compliance with all corporate, federal, and international regulations, including but not limited to, FAA/EASA Regulations, Import/Export Compliance, Quality Control, Hazmat, Traffic/Material Handling Standards, and departmental procedures.
  3. Knowledge of MRP/ERP planning systems (varies with site).
  4. Knowledge of Basic Supply Chain Management; to include master planning of resources, detailed scheduling and planning and execution and control of operations.
  5. Knowledge of international conversions of weight, measures, and monetary exchanges.
  6. Certified DOT HAZMAT awareness 181 preferred.
  7. Lean Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, KANBAN, Value Stream Mapping and Continuous Flow experience preferred. Must have implemented Lean Initiatives.
  8. Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience preferred.
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
