The Senior Software Automation Tester is responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of automated testing solutions across enterprise applications. This role serves as a technical expert in automation, drives best practices, and partners closely with development, product, and QA leadership to ensure highquality, scalable, and reliable software releases. The Senior Automation Tester plays a key role in defining automation standards, mentoring team members, and supporting continuous delivery initiatives. The role is also expected to stay current with modern AIenabled testing capabilities and leverage AI tools responsibly to improve automation productivity, test coverage, and defect detection.

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Quality Assurance. The position is hybrid and can be located in any city where we have a US office. Flexibility to come to the office for trainings or meetings is required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Automation Architecture and Development

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust automated test frameworks for web, desktop, mobile, and API applications.
  • Develop advanced automated test suites for functional, regression, smoke, and performance testing.
  • Ensure automation frameworks are scalable, reusable, maintainable, and aligned with application architecture and business needs.
  • Review and optimize existing automation solutions to improve stability, coverage, and execution efficiency.

Testing Tools and Technical Expertise

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for automation and testing tools such as Selenium, Power Automate, JMeter, Appium, Postman, or equivalent technologies.
  • Demonstrate experience with modern AI/GenAI tools and concepts (e.g., AI copilots, AIassisted test design/generation, selfhealing automation) and apply them to enhance test automation effectiveness and maintainability.
  • Perform complex API, backend, and database testing to validate integrations and data integrity.
  • Lead crossbrowser, crossplatform, and patch testing strategies to ensure application stability across environments.

CI/CD and Continuous Testing

  • Drive integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid feedback.
  • Analyze automation execution results, identify systemic issues, and recommend longterm improvements.
  • Define and track automation metrics, dashboards, and quality indicators for leadership review.

Collaboration and Agile Leadership

  • Partner closely with developers, product owners, and architects to influence testability, quality, and automation strategy early in the development lifecycle.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and provide qualityfocused input during sprint planning and release discussions.
  • Support UAT and release readiness by ensuring automation coverage aligns with businesscritical workflows.

Defect Management and Quality Governance

  • Lead defect analysis efforts, including root cause identification and preventive recommendations.
  • Ensure defect fixes are validated through automated and manual retesting to prevent regression.
  • Promote and enforce QA standards, testing processes, and best practices across projects.

Mentoringand Continuous Improvement

  • Mentor and guide junior and midlevel QA team members on automation frameworks, tools, and testing best practices.
  • Contribute to defining longterm automation strategy and roadmap.
  • Continuously evaluate new tools, technologies, and approaches to improve overall testing effectiveness and efficiency.

Required qualifications and skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related degree and 8+ years of experience in software testing, with strong hands-on experience in test automation.
  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, 12 years of relevant software testing and test automation experience.
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks.
  • Strong experience with web applications, APIs, and backend systems.
  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD practices.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across crossfunctional teams.
  • Occasional offhours support during releases or critical testing windows.
  • Commitment to mentoring, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading or owning automation initiatives across multiple applications.
  • Handson experience with performance and load testing tools.
  • Experience working in largescale or enterprise application environments.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problemsolving skills.
