General Summary

Under immediate supervision, performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experiments, specimen preparations, and experimental procedures for the purpose of research. Assists in the use of specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine laboratory experiments and procedures using standard equipment, following established protocols and schedules while ensuring results are complete and accurate. Assist with troubleshooting experiments when results are unexpected or specimen quality is poor.
  • Maintain detailed records of methodologies and results, and keep laboratory equipment, workspaces, and supplies organized and in professional condition.
  • Sterilize and clean glassware, prepare media and laboratory materials, and mix standard reagents as needed.
  • Monitor and inventory supplies, place orders for materials and animals, and notify supervisors when restocking is required.
  • Follow all laboratory safety and regulatory guidelines, participate in safety training, conduct literature reviews, and collaborate with researchers to support ongoing studies and improve laboratory techniques.
  • Conducts literature searches and reviews, compiling information for journals and suggesting uses for new techniques to the P.I. Attends courses, lectures, and conferences to further own knowledge of research and laboratory techniques, consulting with other researchers and technicians to exchange information. Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations.
Minimum Requirement

Education
  • Bachjelors' Degree in a STEM Field
Experience
  • Analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
