Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services (GbILS) provides four specific areas of expertise-Logistics Engineering, Measurement Sciences, Program Management, and Technical Support-serving the scientific, technical, and engineering needs of clients. GbILS values its innovative thinking and service-oriented team who provide services for a variety of federal government and commercial clients.

Summary:

The Senior Scientist will function as the lead for the Science Collaboration, Coordination and Transition among NOAA Line Offices.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain and sustain current Coast Watch operational capabilities
  • Enhance existing operations through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the scientific development of new and improved satellite products
  • Advance the utilization of emerging satellite products and services
  • Identify and integrate innovative technologies into operational workflows
  • Contribute to the evolution of operational satellite oceanography
  • Engage with the broader scientific community to support advancements in satellite oceanography

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Exceptional presentation skills and stakeholder engagement skills are essential; substantive experience in these areas must be obvious and demonstrable
  • Familiarity with GITHUB and CANVAS platforms
  • Good communication skills
  • Good word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and other routine administrative office software and tools, etc.
  • Knowledge of the NOAA missions relevant to Coast Watch and its partner Line Offices.
  • Knowledge of the science of NOAA missions such as oceanography, water quality, ocean ecosystems, global air-sea dynamics, marine weather, hydrography, tropical storms, fisheries and aquaculture, harmful algal blooms, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in science and/or technology fields
  • Scientific understanding of the context in areas where satellite data are used in applications for water quality monitoring, coastal resilience, fisheries management, weather, extreme events, human health and safety, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher-level education and knowledge of and practical experience in ocean remote sensing

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $125,000 - $140,000 annually.
