SUMMARY:

As a Supplier Quality Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for activities related to quality monitoring and control of purchased material and suppliers to Accuray's medical device manufacturing operations. This position will be based onsite at our headquarters in Madison, WI. The target start date for this role is Summer 2026 and has potential to be extended part-time into the 2025-2026 academic year.

REPORTING TO/DEPARTMENT:

  • Director, Quality Assurance / Supplier Quality Assurance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigate and trend purchased material defects encountered during inspection, assembly, testing, installation, and servicing, and issue, review, and follow-up with suppliers on supplier defect notices (SDNs), and supplier corrective action requests (SCARs).
  • Request and review supplier part qualification information including first article inspection reports (FAIRs) and other production part approval (PPAP) information.
  • Obtain, review, and update supplier risk evaluations and supplier qualification records including surveys and certifications.
  • Maintain supplier, part, and incoming inspection information in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  • Update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WIs), tools, and job aids.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in electrical, industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, quality engineering or similar, from an accredited college or university
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate-level student in good academic standing
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and priorities
  • Solid understanding of basic engineering concepts, manufacturing processes, and the role of quality assurance in manufacturing
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Coursework or projects related to supply chain or quality assurance
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning software like SAP
  • Previous internship or project experience involving quality assurance, manufacturing, or supply chain

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Most working time will be on-site at Accuray's global operations center with the potential for some local supplier travel for shadowing or training opportunities.

To qualify for this position, candidates must be able to furnish proof that they are authorized to work in the country they are applying on a permanent basis without sponsorship.
