Full-Time I First Shift

Laboratory I Lexington, KY

Description

  • The Histotechnologist independently performs, interprets, validates and correlates tests as ordered by physicians by following the approved departmental procedures and in accordance with all regulatory agencies.
  • The Histotechnologist determines that the test results meet requirements of the quality control program and if not met, repeat test and ensure the results are approved for reporting.
  • The Histotechnologist expected to utilize complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.
  • Seeks out additional tasks when workload is slow.
  • Assists others with different aspects of the job.
  • Assists with answering the phone promptly and courteously.
  • Assists with supplies - ordering, stocking, and notifies appropriate personnel of departmental supply needs to ensure uninterrupted testing.
  • Assists with additional departmental tasks as needed or assigned.
  • Assists with training of students and new employees.
  • Perform duties above and beyond routine tasks.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and follows up on assignments in an effective and timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree.
  • In lieu of degree 8 years of full-time experience in a histopathology laboratory.
  • One year experience in histopathology laboratory.
  • Certified Histotechnician.
  • Must obtain Histotechnician within 1 year.
