The Department of Medicine (DOM) is the largest department within the UCSD School of Medicine and is responsible for fulfilling the teaching, research and clinical missions of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. The department employs approximately 500 salaried faculty, 168 academic appointees, 331 residents, fellows and postdocs and 480 staff personnel. Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation. Under general supervision of the Division Administrator, Division Chief, and the Fellowship Training Program Directors, the Fellowship Coordinator has overall management and responsibility of Cardiovascular Medicine training programs, administering the full range of development, design and implementation of training tools, learning materials, control documentation, and record training experiences, to maintain GME/ACGME compliance. The administration of the Cardiology fellowship training programs requires full knowledge of the professional goals of an accredited training program. This includes a comprehensive knowledge of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements. Responsible for organizing, directing, coordinating and administering resources and systems in consultation with the Division Chief, Fellowship Directors, Division Faculty, Division Administrator, Division Grant and Financial Managers to assure overall control of fellowship activities. Interface with all Division Faculty, the School of Medicine Departments, campus and hospital officers, the Department of Medicine Business Office, all other Department and Divisional units and other medical organizations to include outside governing entities such as the ACGME, ABIM, AAMC, NRMP, ERAS, Medical Licensing Boards, OGME, ECFMG, and Verifications of Fellow Alumni. The management of the research programs of the division involves grant preparation and coordination with Department of Medicine (DOM) sponsored projects office for the submission and tracking of the grants, coordinate program requirements, processing trainees appointments on xTrain and working with PI to ensure trainee requirements are met and progress reports are submitted. Responsible for the management of clinical schedules for trainees and the division. Assist the Directors with the coordination and creation of the annual schedules. Maintain and track schedules, and create changes throughout the year as schedules and availability are updated. Provide general administrative support related to the fellowship programs including but not limited to assisting with purchase orders, reimbursements, travel, and other general support.
