The Opportunity

Our US Land Services team is expanding to support our larger-scaled growth projects. We need an experienced Land Representative to maintain landowner and contractor relationships across our US operations. This role will assist Project Management in acquiring surface rights, permits and land access agreements, while reporting directly to the leader of US Land Projects.

What you'll do

  • Supervise and oversee third-party contract land personnel.

  • Manage contract land personnel on negotiation of agreements, permits, and positions with landowners, always reflecting fair and equitable practices

  • Collaborate with knowledgeable and expert internal clients in resolution of land-related responsibilities and issues

  • Act as an ambassador of TC Energy with external stakeholders focusing on enhancing relationships with TC Energy landowners, industry associations, regulatory agencies, and the general public

  • Coordinate and lead acquisition of non-environmental permitting activities such as road use maintenance agreements (RUMA's), heavy haul permits, utility relocations, crossings, etc.

  • Conduct high level, forward-thinking project planning, budget forecasting, and risk assessment on behalf of Land Services

  • Develop, coordinate, manage and track Land related budgets including but not limited to acquisition and contractor costs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7 years of combined applicable academic training, certification and related experience in the natural gas pipeline industry.

  • Experience in land and right of way acquisition in the natural gas pipeline industry.

  • Experience in post construction land damages settlements.

  • Experience with non-environmental permitting acquisition with third party impacts such as DOH/DOT agencies.

  • Familiarity with state and federal pipeline regulations and requirements.

  • Leadership skills, promoting a positive influence on the work of others through demonstration of technical expertise, conflict resolution, and effective interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to make decisions where only general policies and procedures are available requiring application of judgement and independent action.

  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and across the business.

  • Expert communication skills with a high proficiency in public speaking abilities being essential.

  • A strong team player, self-motivated individualwith good interpersonal, organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and strong networking skills.

  • Travel within the US is required approximately 70% of the time; and as such the candidate must be able to provide applicable documentation to this effect.

  • Successful completion of Security Clearance/Criminal Check may be required

  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate in Business Administration, or Petroleum Land Management

  • AAPL or IRWA membership and industry specific designations such as RPL, CPL, RWP or SR/WA.

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in a directly related discipline

  • A combination of skills and experience
