SUMMARY

This is a multi-craft position requiring thorough working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, including auxiliary parts and components, as well as basic knowledge of electricity. This position will be troubleshooting, repairing and improving a variety of equipment; such as material blowers, extruders, chilled water systems, compressed air systems, piping, metal fabrication, plastic compound mixing/blending system, and a plastic grinder.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Must work safely and maintain a safe, clean work environment, follow arch flash and lockout-tagout procedures, electrical safety work program, and perform available work as required by the supervisor.

  • Requires extensive experience in industrial or heavy commercial maintenance.

  • Must be capable of installing, maintaining, repairing, and adjusting mechanic/electrical components, controls and equipment.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot, locate and repair mechanical/electrical malfunctions, utilizing proper tools and equipment.

  • Must be familiar with AC/DC motor replacement.

  • Must be familiar with machine shop equipment for fabrication and repairs of components and equipment; must have a working knowledge of lubricants and their uses.

  • Must have basic knowledge of electricity; the ability to check for blown fuses, opens or shorts in wiring.

  • Responsible for keeping work area clean, for working in a safe manner following company policies, rules, and for reporting all potentially hazardous working conditions or equipment.

  • Must be able to use a computer to track, document equipment problems, submit/review, and close work orders, PMs, and etc.

  • Must be able to perform regular preventative maintenance and work orders as part of daily activities and as assigned.

  • Must be able to perform general facilities maintenance as needed.

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime/on-call/ work weekends/off shifts as needed and to take on additional assignments as requested by management

  • Maintain 5S standards.

  • Performs any additional responsibilities or tasks as needed

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 5 years' experience in Industrial Maintenance or Pipe Extrusion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The base pay range for this position is $33.10 - $42.47 per hour. This range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
