Environmental Health and Safety Manager (E-4) Status: Exempt (salaried) Department: EH&S Position Summary The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for Service Operations is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management program for a distributed Field Service organization that strives to go beyond regulatory compliance. This role will ensure that Plug Power is in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations in which we operate, including but not limited to occupational safety and health, waste management, environmental regulatory compliance, workers compensation, chemical control, industrial hygiene, fire safety and transportation. The EHS Manager also contribute to efforts that build a strong safety culture and ensure proactive measures to continuously improve Plug Power's EHS program. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and is comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced field service environment. This position requires a high level of interaction with site activities and throughout the organization, including both verbal and written communication. Core Duties and Responsibilities Responsible person for managing EHS Program and strategy for field service operations. Serve as primary technical resource for questions and concerns involving Environmental Health and Safety issues. Responsible for implementation of facility safety programs at Plug Service Locations and procedural implementation for hydrogen delivery services Lead the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs in partnership with functional teams and corporate EHS Strategy. Define procedures that comply with Plug power, industry and site-specific customer requirements. Understand requirements in various locations for EHS compliance and implement appropriate programs for Field operations accordingly. Develop, plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and national regulations including those governed by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Define and implement standard site safety plan expectations for remote operating sites. Maintain EHS documentation including policies, forms, chemical inventory, training records, inspection records and facility Safety Reviews Support development and delivery of effective Environment Health and Safety training programs for the Company Lead and participate in the Safety Team meetings, including development, recruitment, and implementation of team meetings and activities Support recycling and waste management program and HAZCOM Program management. Integrate the safety data sheet (SDS) management system with Plug's database system Perform safety inspections, routine audits and surveys; prepare reports of findings and make recommendations on preventative measures where necessary Conduct post-accident investigations, prepare reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards; present recommendations for solutions to these hazards in the future Support sustainability/corporate social responsibility efforts across the organization Support efforts for IATF 16959 certification and customer compliance programs Advise leadership team on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions Set Tone for a positive, learning Safety culture in the field through a robust Injury and Illness prevention program, observations, concern reporting and leading safety indicators. Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions Perform other duties as assigned Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial engineering or related field of study Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in EHS compliance Prior experience as a technical trainer/instructor is highly preferred Professional EHS certifications including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or other related safety certifications are strongly preferred Able to interpret regulations and implement requirements in the work environment Knowledge and broad technical background with federal and state regulations (OSHA, RCRA, DOT, DEC) Ability to analyze information, develop and deliver training programs, adapt policies, create reporting and proven progressive experience to offer recommendations for continuous improvement Proven skill set with a variety of computer and software programs, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook and others. Capability to present information effectively to diverse audiences and stakeholders while responding to questions from groups of managers, employees and the leadership team Proven leadership, teamwork and flexibility to manage changes in projects and priorities Ability to write reports and procedural manuals Exceptional public speaking skills Superior communication skills Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively Excellent follow-through Pay Rate: $96,800.00 - $154,900.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below: | |
