STV is seeking an accomplished Area Manager to lead and grow our Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach, VA - Transportation Business, driving market expansion, diversification, and operational excellence across the region.

You'll be based in our vibrant new Virginia Beach Office and be the highest-ranking Transportation Executive for the South-east Virginia Region.Your performance in this role aims to create a vibrant, growth-oriented, collaborative, and robust business that is seen as an active member of the communities in which you operate, a trusted advisor to your clients, a valued teaming partner, and a thought-leader in the industry.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

As Area Manager, you will spend a heavier commitment of your time as an externally facing leader - advancing strategic initiatives in close alignment with peer Area Managers across Northern Virginia and neighboring states with shared accountability for the Transportation South Groups overall growth strategy.

You will build strong, crossdisciplinary partnerships with regional business development directors, technical discipline leaders and teaming partners to deliver an integrated, clientfocused approach across architecture, engineering, planning, design, and construction services.

STV's Transportation portfolio in Virginia Beach spans highway and bridge design, transit, construction engineering and inspection (CEI), and advisory services, supporting longstanding clients such as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and related Ports, Transit, and Rail agencies.

You will lead and advance a highperforming Transportation team of project managers, engineers, planners, and construction leaders, while defining and executing growth strategies that expand revenue, strengthen market presence, and reinforce STV's talent brand across the region.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

In this role, you will lead the strategic, operational, and financial performance of your region, overseeing client relationships, business development, growth stragegy, market positioning, project delivery, operational efficiency, and the attraction, development and retention of top talent to ensure sustained business success.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Establish and execute business plans aligned with STV's strategic objectives and annual operating goals.

  • Analyze market, client, and industry trends and position STV to capitalize on growth opportunities across Virginia and DC.

  • Serve as a visible leader and ambassador for STV with clients, industry organizations, and the broader community.

Client & Market Growth

  • Partner with client service leaders to strengthen and expand key client relationships.

  • Maintain seniorlevel relationships with clients, teaming partners, industry leaders, and community stakeholders.

  • Lead pursuit strategies, expand the client base, and grow service offerings across targeted markets.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Oversee local business operations, including client mix, project execution, staffing, resource planning, and overhead control.

  • Ensure adherence to STV's policies, procedures, and quality standards.

  • Monitor business performance, report results, and implement corrective actions to achieve financial and operational targets.

Talent & Culture

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent to support current and future business needs.

  • Build a strong leadership bench and succession pipeline for critical roles.

  • Mentor and develop future leaders while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and highperformance culture.

  • Assess individual and team performance, addressing gaps and recognizing exceptional contributions.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Required Experience & Credentials

  • 20+ years of technical, operational and growth leadership, primarily across roadway, highway, bridge, planning and engineering design, with a demonstrated record of driving revenue growth and operational success.

  • BS or MS in Engineering (or related discipline).

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Planner (AICP) registration in Virginia (additional state registrations preferred).

Technical & Market Expertise

  • Recognized subject matter expertise in one or more areas such as roadway/highway design, structural design, hydraulics, transit, planning, construction management and Alternative Delivery and Design-Build methods (a big plus).

  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams, including Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, Construction Managers, and Inspectors.

Business & Leadership Strengths

  • Strong externally and internally facing leader with the ability to build trust at the executive and agency level.

  • Demonstrated success driving new business, leading pursuits, and growing teams in complex, competitive markets.

  • Strategic thinker with the operational discipline to deliver results.

The compensation range below is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final compensation to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the candidate's prior work experience, scope & role, education, and proven performance results.

Compensation Range:

$170,537.75 - $194,900.29
