THE POSITION

The Area Agency on Aging is seeking a dedicated Senior Center Services Director 1 to lead programs that promote health, independence, and social engagement while supporting a vibrant community center for seniors. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role you will be tasked with providing leadership and administrative oversight for the center's operations and nutrition programs. Work involves directing and supervising congregate meal services, nutrition education, socialization activities, as well as health and wellness programs. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with agency's Advisory Counsel and Center Operators to develop community-based programs such as health screenings, life skills training, and consumer education. Work also involves coordinating the annual Farmers Market Check Vouch Program, preparing program and budgets reports, and monitoring transportation services. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Administrative functions such as conducting performance evaluations, providing technical guidance, and training staff on program regulations and agency procedures
  • Review documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Representing the agency at meetings and trainings, sharing updates and guidance with staff and leadership
  • Providing information and assistance to older adults, caregivers, veterans, and the general public while serving as an advocate for aging services
  • Maintaining a professional, respectful work environment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of experience in a food service, social service or recreation program, including one (1) year in an administrative, supervisory or consultative capacity or one (1) year as a Senior Center Manager. College or business school may be substituted on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two (2) years for the general experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Northumberland County. If no eligible candidates who live within Northumberland County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
