About the Role

The Cyber Security Manager of Architecture & Engineeringis responsible for setting, governing, and enabling enterprise cybersecurity architecture while actively contributing as a senior individual contributor and leading a team of security architects and engineers. This role serves as the authoritative security architecture decisionmaker for the organization and directly participates in the design and delivery of complex or highrisk security solutions.

This is a hybrid manager / senior individual contributor role that sits at the intersection of architectural authority, handson technical execution, and people leadership. Success is measured by architectural quality, delivery outcomes, team effectiveness, and the organization's ability to securely adopt and scale technology.

Security Architecture Governance & Authority

  • Define, maintain, and govern enterprise cybersecurity architecture standards, reference architectures, and design patterns across onpremises, cloud, and SaaS environments.
  • Act as the primary decision authority for security architecture standards, exceptions, and material risk tradeoffs, escalating risk appropriately.
  • Establish architectural guardrails that enable teams to move quickly while maintaining an acceptable risk posture.
  • Ensure architectural integrity and crossdomain alignment for major security initiatives led across Cyber Operations.
  • Provide architectural guidance for application and data security, including secure design patterns, threat modeling practices, and alignment with Secure SDLC expectations in partnership with application and GRC teams.

Individual Contributor - Architecture & Engineering

  • Personally design and contribute to complex, sensitive, or highrisk security architecture and engineering efforts where seniorlevel expertise and judgment are required.
  • Lead or directly participate in evaluation, proofofconcept, and detailed design activities for new security capabilities, platforms, and integrations.
  • Provide handson technical leadership during critical initiatives, incidents, or escalations that require deep architectural or engineering insight.
  • Produce, review, and approve architecture artifacts, designs, and technical documentation to ensure quality, consistency, and longterm sustainability.

Project & Delivery Enablement

  • Maintain accountability for architectural quality and security outcomes across the full lifecycle of major security initiatives, from evaluation and design through implementation and operational handoff.
  • Partner with delivery owners, project managers, and engineering teams to ensure security architecture is practical, consumable, and aligned with delivery realities.
  • Ensure new security capabilities are designed with operability, scalability, and longterm supportability in mind.
  • Champion simplification by reducing tool sprawl, architectural duplication, and unnecessary complexity.
  • Security Platforms & Integration.
  • Guide and directly contribute to the architectural design of security platforms and their integration across identity, endpoint, network, cloud, and data domains.
  • Ensure architecture decisions support effective detection, investigation, and response by enabling highquality telemetry, logging, and integration with SOC platforms.
  • Promote standardization through shared services, common telemetry pipelines, and consistent integration patterns to improve visibility and response efficiency.

Risk & Regulatory Alignment

  • Partner with GRC, compliance, and business stakeholders to translate regulatory and risk requirements into actionable and scalable architecture patterns.
  • Evaluate architectural risk tradeoffs and clearly communicate impacts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ensure security architecture supports business resilience, availability, and operational continuity in regulated or risksensitive environments.
  • Vendor, Partner & Emerging Technology Engagement
  • Contribute handson architectural and riskbased input for emerging technologies, including AIenabled platforms.
  • Participate directly in vendor evaluations, capability assessments, and roadmap alignment to ensure solutions fit architectural and operational needs.
  • People Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of security architects and engineers while remaining an active technical contributor.
