DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Activities Manager for the Department of Corrections, you will plan, organize, direct, schedule, and coordinate a program of wellness and leisure time activities for your Institution's population. This includes activities in creative and performing arts, social recreation, crafts, athletics, and games of wide scope and variety. Your responsibilities will involve preparing requisitions for supplies and equipment, acting as chairperson for the Inmate General Welfare Fund, and coordinating and supervising Inmate Organizations. You will oversee the Activities Department and assigned staff, as well as supervise and monitor volunteer participation. Work also includes arranging entertainment and participating with Department Heads in organizing and scheduling volunteer programs. - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,736.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two (2) years of experience as a Corrections Activities Specialist; or
- One year as a Corrections Activities Manager 1; or
- Three (3) years of experience in developing and conducting a variety of recreational activities, including one (1) year in Corrections and one year of supervisory or lead work experience, and a bachelor's degree, with major course work in recreation and physical education; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
