Job Title: Summer Maintenance

FLSA Status: Full-Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Camp Director

Schedule: 40 hours

Supervises: n/a

Rate of Pay: $375.00 weekly

Closing Date: 3/26/2026

Benefits: Temporary Full-time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:



  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)


Function: The summer maintenance position reports to the Camp Director, and under the direction of the Property Director to assist with the overall upkeep of all High Peak Camp property and maintenance needs. They work to maintain the grounds, buildings, assist with summer program preparation, and the care of camp vehicles (if applicable). At times this position may help with summer camp programming or housekeeping duties.

GENERAL DUTIES:

* Assists Property Manager with camp maintenance programs as directed.

* Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.

* Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.

* Attend and participate in Staff Orientation.

* Attend and participate in all camp wide activities, campfires, staff meetings and staff devotions as directed.

* Assist with Camper check-in and check-out as directed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Safety and Supervision

* Enforce, and abide by, all camp policies and procedures

* Responsible for the health and well-being of self and campers.

* Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times

* Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.

o Maintain group/staff control at specialized group activities so that other support staff can focus on safety.

* Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.

* Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.

* Attend relevant in-service trainings.

Weekly Responsibilities

* Assists Property Manager in identifying needed repairs and replacements.

* Completes minor repairs (i.e., small appliances, small equipment).

* Assists with preventative maintenance to refurbish or replace deteriorating items and avoid future costly repairs.

* Assists in housekeeping duties when needed.

* Completes special projects as directed (i.e., room alternations, major repairs).

* Lifts and moves heavy furniture and equipment.

* Keeps grounds litter-free.

* Assists with landscaping and lawn maintenance.

* Assists with floor maintenance (vacuuming, mopping).

* Assists with vehicle maintenance and upkeep.

* Be responsible for the needs of all staff members in regard to repairs, janitorial, and maintenance in their respective areas.

* Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle and prioritize simultaneous requests.

* Remain in full compliance with all Salvation Amry policies and procedures outlined within the employee handbook and directed by authorized Salvation Army departments.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director, Property manager, and other administrative staff.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

* 18 years of age (by June 1st)

* Ability to following through with assigned tasks.

* Has a strong work ethic and ability to follow procedures.

* Flexible attitude.

* Maintain a high standard of personal and communal living and behaviors.

* Drivers License and 21 years of age if driving Salvation Army vehicles (ability preferred by not necessary for position).

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift to 50 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand written information. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
