Job Title: Safety & EHS Operations Specialist - Distribution Center

A globally recognized automotive parts distribution organization is seeking a Safety & Environmental Health Specialist to serve as the on-site champion for workplace safety, compliance, and operational integrity within a busy parts distribution center.

In this role, you will act as the subject matter expert for safety programs, OSHA compliance, risk prevention, and EHS reporting, partnering with leadership, HR, and headquarters teams to ensure the facility operates at the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. Hours & Pay

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (schedule may vary based on operational needs)

Travel: Minimal travel up to 10% may be required

Pay Range: $62,000 - $87,000 annually (approximately $30 - $40 per hour equivalent depending on experience)

Daily Responsibilities



  • Serve as the site safety subject matter expert, ensuring company safety policies, OSHA standards, and EHS procedures are consistently implemented.
  • Lead safety initiatives across the distribution center, partnering with local leadership to strengthen a proactive safety culture.
  • Monitor and track safety programs, including preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, workplace inspections, and job hazard analyses to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, including injuries, illnesses, property damage, and near misses, while ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings and daily safety awareness discussions across multiple shifts.
  • Track and report safety performance metrics, KPIs, and incident data through the company's EHS system.
  • Coordinate new hire safety orientation and ensure all employees receive proper training when assigned new tasks or processes.
  • Oversee PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) certification processes and audit trainers for compliance and documentation accuracy.
  • Manage PPE monitoring and ensure proper use and availability throughout the facility.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and management to address safety concerns, unsafe behaviors, and training needs.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness planning, including weather alerts, drills, and emergency action plan implementation.
  • Support regulatory audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate safety training records, documentation, and compliance files.
  • Partner with leadership to improve processes, reduce workplace risks, and strengthen operational safety standards.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment is safe, properly maintained, and documented.



Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in safety, EHS, or workplace safety programs required.
  • Experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution center operations strongly preferred.
  • 2-3 years of project management or process improvement experience required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety compliance, and workplace risk management.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop solutions for workplace safety challenges.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train, coach, and influence employees at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
  • Self-motivated professional capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Minimal travel availability (up to 10%).
