Job Title: Purchasing Manager


Report To: Director


Location: Site


JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for planning, directing and controlling the purchase of all goods and services required to manufacture products in accordance with NTN Purchasing Policies.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manage all direct and indirect material, services, supplies and freight negotiations of $400M/yr.
  • Extensive knowledge of the legal aspects of purchasing, contracts and leases.
  • Possess the highest ethical standards
  • Ability to manage major complex programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities.
  • Process purchase orders to meet the needs of all operations.
  • Manage purchasing terms and conditions.
  • Maintain & revise the Supplier Manual to comply with all Company and third party requirements. Insure all suppliers comply with the Supplier Manual.
  • Supervise, train and develop the Purchasing and component scheduling staff including performance reviews.
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills.
  • Establish goals for cost improvement that insure the material costs will meet business plan objectives. Monitor progress and report results to executive management on a monthly basis.
  • Solicit quotations for all raw materials, parts, services and outside processes to insure the best cost and a smooth start-up of all new programs.
  • Coordinate major contract negotiations with other company facilities that have like suppliers.
  • Continually monitor the delivery and quality performance of all suppliers and take necessary actions to insure the highest level of performance.
  • Continually review production requirements and insure sufficient orders are placed and that the supply base has capacity to fulfill the production needs.
  • Have an intimate knowledge of IATF and customer specific requirements and insure the department maintains the required records. Continually evaluate the risk of all suppliers and audit suppliers as needed.
  • Conduct new supplier evaluations.
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier list.
  • Monitor Company records of steel receipts, scrap shipments, and compare to the supplier's invoices or records to insure accuracy.



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering with a minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement in an automotive industry environment.
  • Be proficient in JDE or similar ERP software.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office application - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to professionally present oneself in both written and oral presentations.
