Lab Technician, Performance Colorants & Ingredients

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is part of Milliken Chemicals Performance Colorants & Ingredients Business. The position provides technical support forthe developmentof new products and support of current products. The position islocatedat our corporate headquarters in Spartanburg, SC. Hours of work are typically Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform reactions and chemicalsynthesis

  • Perform purification/isolation and analyticalcharacterization

  • Perform testing and chemical analysis on samples

  • Document experimental procedures,resultsandobservations

  • Maintain clean and safe workenvironments

  • Participate fully in the safetyprocess

  • Work effectively with members of a team to achieve project targets anddeadlines

  • Organize and effectively communicate results andnew ideas(presentations, tables, charts)

  • Use of scientific method and critical thinking/problem solving

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's ormaster's degree in Chemistryor related technical field

  • Strong chemical synthesis experience, aptitude, or training

  • Experience working in a chemical laboratory setting; including safely handling and mixing chemicals, documenting experiments, andoperatingscientific equipment

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
