With nVent, you'll develop engineering and leadership skills through a variety of projects and experiences, formal and informal training, and leadership opportunities. You can apply what you've learned in engineering courses such as Modeling in Manufacturing, Heat Transfer, Circuits, and others. Our engineering co-op students are involved in designing, manufacturing, and optimizing high-amperage (up to 28kA) power distribution systems and equipment. These systems are used in nuclear, solar, fossil fuel, and hydro-electric power plants and large industrial facilities around the world.

We are currently recruiting co-op students to start work in the fall of 2026, or the spring of 2027.

Your work assignments may include:

  • Generating product designs using 3-D modeling and CAD software
  • Conducting heat transfer studies using FEA heat transfer analysis software
  • Participating in the design and manufacture of electrical panels/electrical equipment
  • Perform research and development activities
  • Conduct product performance testing and troubleshooting
  • Participate in process improvement projects

What You Will Experience in this Position:

Your experience as a Co-Op Engineer goes beyond the daily activities of your role. In addition to the support of your manager, you can expect to grow and develop through exposure to leadership, engaging in development opportunities, and networking with other early career professionals.

  • Training & Development: Training and development is provided throughout your internship through on-the-job experience and other learning opportunities, fostering the development of business acumen and leadership skills at a global organization.
  • Community: You will be invited to join our Employee Resource Groups (ERG's) which offer special events, networking, professional development and volunteer opportunities throughout the year to promote inclusion and respect and to help us embrace our diversity.
  • Mentorship & Networking: Build a network of peers, managers and senior leaders to support your career path and aid your growth. Gain exposure to nVent professionals at every level who will act as formal and informal mentors during your internship.

Program Details:

  • Competitive hourly pay at $25 per hour
  • Relocation and housing support is available to eligible candidates
  • Co-ops receive paid time off, paid volunteer time, and paid holidays
  • Co-ops who demonstrate outstanding performance may be offered a subsequent internship/co-op or full-time offer of employment with nVent

Location: This position is in Richland, MS

YOU HAVE:

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or in industrial technology
  • Desire to work at least 2 or 3 semesters
  • Sophomore class or later(Graduating by spring 2029)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GPA of at least 2.75
  • Experience using Inventor or SolidWorks 3d modeling software
  • Skill in written and oral communication with the ability to interface with people across multiple functional areas
