Job Summary


This position is part-time, scheduled for 30 hours per week, and is based at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland.

The Senior Ultrasound Sonographer in Fetal Medicine performs high-resolution diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support physicians in the evaluation and management of high-risk pregnancies. This role is responsible for imaging that demonstrates detailed fetal anatomy and assists physicians during invasive prenatal procedures, including amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).

The Senior Sonographer also supports departmental quality initiatives, maintains quality control documentation, and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance to ensure optimal imaging performance and patient safety.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $81.63 - $101.47 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • 1.5 years of experience in a high risk obstetric ultrasound service
  • Current registration as a cardiac sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Adult and Pediatric Echocardiography
  • ARDMS certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology (RDMS-OB/GYN)
  • Current BLS
  • NT certification through FMF, NTQR
  • SPI exam
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
  • Graduation from CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • Successful completion Senior Sonographer competency checklist

Preferred Qualifications


  • Advanced training in computer-based image management systems
  • Familiarity with advanced echocardiographic imaging and intracardiac procedures performed in the invasive lab setting.

License/Certification
