About The Role

Are you an Accounting ROCKSTAR? We are currently seeking a dedicated and detailoriented Bank Accounting Representative to join our team! In this parttime role (30 hours per week), you will take pride in performing a variety of accounting and clerical tasks with accuracy, efficiency, and a strong commitment to confidentiality.

In this position, you'll work closely with customers, vendors, community members, and fellow team members. The salary range for this position is $20.75 to $22.00 per hour. All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and reviews reconciliations of General Ledger Accounts on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis as assigned to meet GBCI/bank divisions' schedule and SOX Key Controls.
  • Assist with preparation and review of Accounts Payable items.
  • Assist in writing "How-To Guides" as requested.
  • Preparation and tracking of Signature Cards for Internal Accounts.
  • Train department and branch staff on accounting procedures and best practices.
  • Manage Vendor Due Diligence.
  • Manage the Unclaimed Property Review and submission of Unclaimed Property to the State of Colorado Treasury Department.
  • Provide customer service duties for Bank of the San Juan's Administrative Team.
  • Assist Bank of the San Juans Accounting Supervisor with tasks as requested.
  • Assist with identifying and leading continuous improvement initiatives within the department and division.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Complete required bank training courses within assigned time frame(s). It is the individual learner responsibility to ensure that they understand the information given to them in each training. If the learner does not understand the information given, they need to reach out to their supervisor for further clarification or additional training.

  • Participate in Community Service and Bank sponsored activities that align with and support the mission and values of the Bank of the San Juans, while consistently representing the bank in a professional manner.   • Employee must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school degree or GED is required.
  • Associates degree in finance, accounting, or other related field preferred.
  • Two to five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Understanding of financial and accounting practices, procedures, and regulations.
  • High degree of attention to detail as well as excellent organizational skill(s) to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have ability to prioritize and organize heavy workload(s) and demonstrate effective time management skill(s).
  • Must have the ability to work in a professional manner and consistently demonstrate courtesy, customer service, and tact in a fast-paced/deadlines-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work quickly, independently, accurately and make decisions based on regulation(s), company policy(s), knowledge and experience. Ability to work in a team environment through building positive and productive relationships.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Microsoft Excel, and a working knowledge of word processing, report writing/data mining, ten-key, and general computer applications.
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Must be capable of occasional travel (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
