POSITION SPECIFICS Penn State Scranton seeks a dynamic Director of Athletics and Recreation to provide leadership for the campus athletics programs, club sports, campus recreation and wellness offerings. The Director of Athletics and Recreation administers the overall athletic program of Penn State Scranton. Penn State Scranton is a member of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) and the United States Collegiate Athletics Association (USCAA) and has 10 varsity sports programs. The Director serves as a member of the Student Affairs leadership team and reports to the Director of Student Services & Engagement. The Director of Athletics and Recreation responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Identify, cultivate, and implement new revenue-generating opportunities to support the strategic growth and sustainability of the intercollegiate athletics programPrioritize and enhance safety and security initiatives across athletics, campus recreation, and club sports programs to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants. The position supervises all department staff in conjunction with the planning and development of all departmental goals and objectives. The Director assures that departmental planning and decisions promote a full commitment to equity and inclusion in all aspects of student engagement with athletics, gender equity, and successful athletics experiences by all students. The successful candidate will be an energetic and motivational leader who is adept at delegating duties and responsibilities, has experience with strong budget management, fundraising, working with multiple campus and community stakeholders and strong verbal and written communications as well as a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion. Experience required in intercollegiate athletics, coaching, or athletics administration. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications may be required. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree 10+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneBACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
